Oculus Transport Ltd. is a General Oilfield Hauling company that was both founded and incorporated in July 2011. Oculus Transport Ltd. specializes in pipe handling and storage, nitrogen and fluid hauling services along with tank farm storage. Our business revolves around providing general oilfield services required to meet unique environmental challenges within the process industries.

Oculus Transport Ltd. is a Canadian company that is employee owned and strives to become a leader within the logistics industry. Oculus Transport has the largest pipe yard in B.C. with 28 acres of pipe storage.

In September 2011 Oculus purchased Koda Transport Ltd. adding a pipe yard containing a 800ft rail spur and can accommodate 18 rail cars, winch tractors, pickers 20-45 ton and 320" to 365" bed trucks to their equipment and resource inventory.

In October 2011 Oculus acquired KDP Contracting, which consisted of Fluid moving equipment and Vac trucks. In November 2011 Oculus built a tank farm with 12,000m3 of storage and an invert mixing tank.

After acquiring NKC Services Ltd. & Brave Transport in June 2012 Oculus started to offer their services, comprised of General Oilfield Hauling, bed and picker trucks, and winch tractors to Grande Prairie, Alberta. June 2013 Oculus Transport added to this fleet Nitrogen Trailers capable of hauling ~25,000 SCM p/unit.

Oculus also developed a sealed Envirodump containing a patented baffle system that allows for the safe and efficient transfer of unstablized drilling waste.

In August 2015 Oculus Transport completed construction and opened a brand new facility in Sexsmith, Alberta to further expand their service line. The new facility boasts a 40 acre pipe yard, and tank farm with direct rail spur access to provide an integrated transportation and storage solution.

For over 30 years Ric Peterson has founded, influenced and developed companies in a number of industries, as a highly respected and accomplished businessman. Born to humble beginnings in Hythe, a small town in Northern Alberta, Ric recognized his passion for entrepreneurship very early in life; starting his first business Tags, at the age of 19. He has a keen eye for opportunity, and has been involved in a number of projects ranging from real estate developments in Whitehorse, to service based businesses in the oil and gas industry. In 1991 Ric founded Formula Transport, an oilfield transportation company in Northern Alberta and BC. He successfully ran Formula until it was purchased by Producers Oilfield in January of 2005. At that time Ric was appointed CEO of Producers, until June 2006 when The Mullen Group acquired the company. Shortly after Ric founded Horizon North Logistics, where he remained the CEO until January 2010. After a short lived stint in retirement, he returned to the oil and gas sector and founded another oilfield service company, Oculus Transport in Calgary AB. Since then, he has co-founded CanAir Nitrogen, become a partner in the Microtel Group, and acquired a 5,000-acre buffalo ranch near his hometown in Northern Alberta.

When he is not forming and leading successful companies, Ric’s passion is his family, and auto racing; both of which go hand in hand. In 2013 he became the co-owner of and Indy Car team, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, team based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Ric is deeply committed to the success of his business ventures, as well as his race team, but even more so to his family. His wife Penni has been a pillar of support for over 35 years, she is equally committed to his successes at the track, in business and in his most important role; a loving husband, father and grandfather.
