Field Supervisor

Oculus Transport is seeking a field supervisor for our Fort St. John branch. As a field supervisor, you are a key point contact between Oculus and its operations. You have the ability to think on your feet, and can effectively problem solve. You are always trying to find a better way to meet our customer’s needs, and focused on building mutually beneficial relationships. You have experience in the field, ideally in the transportation industry and can confidently and professionally represent Oculus. You are a self-starter with a team focused mindset, and have the ability to motivate, encourage and educate your fellow employees. Safety is a top priority and your role is critical to ensuring compliance of all standards and procedures, while reporting any discrepancies or issues to management. As a key point of communication in the field you can effectively and consistently communicate with management. You will also work closely with Dispatch, always working to increase efficiency. As a 24/7 operation you must be willing to work on rotation, and occasionally be available for on call work. We are a small company with a clear path for growth, and we are always adding new trucks to our fleet; there is no shortage of work. Responsibilities will include:

  • Embrace, mandate and support a strongly focused safety culture
  • Have the proven ability to effectively motivate the field team
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong verbal and interpersonal skills in your communication with management, suppliers and clients –ability to work very effectively both in a team environment and independently
  • Monitor performance of employees on the job site, ensuring compliance and that the customer’s expectations are being met, and exceeded.
  • Work cooperatively with dispatch to develop timelines, schedules and customer deliverables.
  • Liaise between the client, the work site and management to communicate all successes, and/or potential issues regarding performance, timelines, incidents, compliance, and all other pertinent information.
  • Prepare applicable reports including but not limited to Hazard ID’s, Job Observations, Incident reports/investigations including root cause analysis and prevention.
  • Required to work shift work, and be available for the occasional on-call shift


  • Minimum 2 years in a field supervisor position
  • Experience in Sales is an asset.
